Sabraset Dye Color Formulas

Placeholder image

When I started dyeing fiber several years ago with PRO Chemical's Sabraset (a.k.a. Lanaset) dyes, I searched in vain for some starter color formulas. Something to get me moving in the right direction. Unfortunately, the few Sabraset-specific color formulas in print had no pictures of the end results, so they were of limited use. The other resources that I investigated were less than helpful.  So I forged ahead on my own. However, I promised myself that if I ever created a weaving web site, I would publish the color formulas that I've created. Hence this compliation. Please keep in mind that these formulas were developed using my workflow and conditions. In order to achieve the same color, you may need to fine-tune the formulas to adjust for your workflow and conditions. Take lots of notes!

A couple of cavaets. First, I have been told that my ability to name the colors I see out in the world is comparable to that of a box of rocks. So, the names I give my colors should probably all have "ish" tacked on to the end; teal-ish, burgundy-ish, etc.  Second, no two computers are going to display a given color exactly the same.  Consequently, what looks like teal on my computer may look like something else on yours.  The information here is simply intended to be a starting point.  I will start with just a few formulas and add more as I have time.
